How It Works

Our agencies help businesses employ individuals with disabilities in a variety ofways, addressing specific company needs. At no cost to you, an agency will meet with you to discuss and understand the work that you need to have done. We will design the best business solution, working with three basic options:

	Direct Hiring - Your company can hire a new employee who has a developmental disability.
	Your company identifies an open position to be filled, and an agency matches the job requirements to an individual with the right skills. You interview the individual. Once your company decides to hire an individual, our job coaching services start immediately at no cost to you. Our job coach works with you to ensure the employee is properly oriented, understands the company, and can fulfill the job requirements. After the employee is fully trained, our job coach will provide support on an as-needed basis throughout the employee tenure.

	Contract Labor - Your company can contract with one of our agencies for the labor you need. A small group of individuals (who have disabilities), assisted by a job coach, will complete the job.
	Your company may have needs that are better met by a work crew. A California Hires the Best agency can contract with you to have a team of individuals, with a job coach, provide the labor that is necessary to complete that job. This allows the agency to help individuals with significant disabilities find employment and provides you with an opportunity to pre-screen individuals for various jobs. A job coach is present with the work crew to ensure that the individuals are successful and the needs of the company are met. Typically, a company contracts with the agency for the services provided, but sometimes the company hires the crew members. It can work either way.

	Outsourcing - If you have work that needs to be outsourced, one of our agencies can contract to handle the work at its own facility.

The agency hires the individuals with developmental disabilities at their facilities and then contract with local businesses to meet their specific needs, a win-win situation for all.

	As an employer, you will pay competitive wages and benefits or contract fees, just as you would in any employment or contract relationship. Our agencies can provide support because they receive funding from the Department of Rehabilitation and Department of Developmental Services to help persons with disabilities find meaningful employment.
